Promises, Promises

Well – this one kept, at least. As promised, a photo of the pots/plants in the garage! (you’ll need to excuse the mess – they’re in a packed corner where the sun gets to them)

And yes – that is a snake in the pot! You may remember the snake post from earlier this summer. Well, our black mamba friend came in for the winter along with the plants! This is the tomato and basil.

As you can see, the Habanada does look just like last week’s photo! We’re crossing our fingers. They get rolled out any day it’s over 60. The big question is…. will those peppers ripen? Stay tuned.

In other news (not really news), the freezing temps last week did kill everything in the beds except mint. I’m guessing that would survive nuclear war! We’re leaving it planted and will see if anything greens up in the Spring.

In the Beginning

vegetables

Welcome! Follow along with me as I try gardening for the first time! My grandfather and mother are both amazing gardeners who could grow anything. Grapefruit, oranges, lemons, tomatoes, peppers, avocados, flowers, figs, mangoes, papayas – nothing seemed to wither on the vine.

Then there is me.  I’ve never had success with plants, but that is going to change this summer!  The picture above is what I see in my mind. I’m hoping that my kitchen counter will look like this. (OK, not the mushrooms, but you get the idea).

I intend to detail the journey here on a weekly basis. We’ll have to wait to see how my garden grows. Hope you stick around!
