Well, it’s a beautiful day for gardening – 75 degrees and a sunny blue sky. Only problem is that it is the day after Christmas! Take a look at these
Yep – that’s the kale that I planted two weeks ago sprouting right up!Funny thing is, I went out to plant some more greens last weekend and was confounded by how hard the soil seemed. I thought I’d use the hand rake to just loosen up the soil before planting and it was hard as a rock. It took me a few minutes to realize it was actually frozen! No such issue now. I did decide to hold off on planting anything further until spring. We’re due for some cold weather in about 10 days, so I don’t think anything would have a chance.
That said, the in-garden plants all seemed to have made it through the frosty weather
Now I just need to spend some time out there really weeding! In the front yard, the trees are confused by the weather too – the cherry tree thinks it’s spring!
Maybe we’ll have kale and kohlrabi next month – cross your fingers!
