So – we had several nights of super cold weather. After consulting with the experts, we decided not to cover the little plants. Reason? If they were going to die, the snow and cold on Sunday would have done it.
So how cold did it get? As you can see – how about low 20s for two nights running? Yep, and it only got up to the low 4o/50ss during the day, so it was a killer. That said, we didn’t lose too many plants! Here’s what went…
- Broccoli
- Celery
- Chiogga Beets
- Chicory
- Buttergem Lettuce
So not too bad! Everything else made it.
Only in South Carolina, though. 20s on Tuesday & Wednesday and 70s on Friday!
On to deliberations about how to keep the landscape fabric from getting chewed up when it gets to mowing season!
