This beautiful harvest made about 20 pounds light by those darned tomato hornworms! Oh how I hate those devilish creatures!
This looks like a bounty of goodness (and it was!), but the sadness was real when I had to toss over 2o pounds (!) of bad tomatoes. You see, it’s been really rainy these past few days and I haven’t gotten out to the garden to harvest and inspect the plants. How much rain, you ask?
This was over 2.5 days. So, a lot! Those few days were enough for the hornworms to eat/terrorize almost the entire ripe tomato crop. It looked like a swarm of weevils attacked the fruit, totally decimating it. I did find the culprits, though, and dispatched them with abandon. Too bad I was so agitated with them, I forgot to take pictures!
Anyway, this was my bucket of goodness after harvesting what was left.
Notice that the Blue and Cream Cherry Tomatoes are ripe! Let’s see what we wind up with next week….
