Spring is in the midst of springing, so time to plant the winter greens! Doesn’t this look pretty?

It’s February and time for planting peas. I was actually a week late getting these done, but we had pesky weather last week. A high of 32 on Sunday followed by ice on Monday. After a bit of a disappointment this weekend, the sugar snaps got planted today.
My plan was to fill up the beds and get them ready for the season….

Round two for the squares that were harvested as well as the addition of a new tomato! We wound up replacing 6 squares total – one each zinnia and marigold that didn’t grow, and squares for the spinach, arugula, radish that were harvested. The final square was a replacement for failed oregano.
You’ll notice that most of these seeds are from GrowJourney. This is a seed of the month club right here in Greenville, SC. …

We celebrated May Day on Friday with glorious spring weather. The garden is coming along very well at this point. So now it is time to add supports for the peppers and eggplants and get the tomatoes trimmed up. I also weeded the beds a few times this week, which took about 10 minutes total! Once again, we had a lot of rain this week, so only a few cups of water were needed on Saturday.
