Adventures in Square Foot Gardening
Once again, medical issues got in the way of gardening. After my surgery, my husband had a burst appendix and spent two weeks in the hospital. This fall just totally got away from us, but we’ve caught up a bit this weekend! On thanksgiving weekend, we have a lot to be thankful for!

First, let me apologize for waiting so long between updates. It’s been almost six weeks since the last post. In the interim, I had emergency surgery and we had an astounding amount of rain. We were lucky here in the Upstate and “only” got 6″ of rain in three days. Our hearts go out to those in Columbia and on the coast who were literally inundated and suffered from disastrous floods.

It’s Labor Day and officially the end of summer. All seersucker wardrobe items and white shoes are put away. Don’t tell the butterflies, though!
They’re loving the zinnias! We’ve had a few other visitors over the past week too…
Summer is officially over now that school is back in session and it seemed like the right time to clean up the garden and get the fall seeds planted.
